God created the world out of and for the purpose of love but we lost our way, we transgressed against him and the whole universe was fractured. From stars exploding and black holes, to anomalies in the weather. Even the air we breath is polluted and not what god had intend for us to breath.
During the times of Noah we saw humanity at its worst and we see the those times returning again but in the midst of all this God made a covenant with man and promised to never flood the world again and a sign of this promise was/is the rainbow. The formation of a rainbow is quite extraordinary. In layman's terms, its the change in direction of light waves, commonly referred to as refraction. God's word tells us to change our ways, change our direction, to love him first and our neighbours as we love ourselves. The world has polluted the symbol of the rainbow but it's amazing how it still remains about love. Quite right to as it's God saying, here is my promise to you because I love you. In a fractured world it takes refraction to see God's love. In other words, it's the closest to perfection we can see when the rainbow appears. The Imperfect and fractured air's direction is changed and we see perfection. When we accept Christ we too pass through a spiritual prism, just like light, and we are refracted unto love! At the moment of a rainbow we not only see God's love but we see our own transformation in Christ. The world looks, sees a rainbow and calls it love. We look and see that God is the rainbow, for God is love. Next time you see a rainbow remember that imperfection is being perfected and give praise to the one who perfected the work at the cross and brought us through in our own personal refraction unto him. Amen.
